Reasons to get this activity pack:

Your child is starting school and you want to make sure they’re completely ready.

FAQs

This activity pack is aimed at children who are about to start school or are in their first year of school(so between 4-6), but you can definitely use the games if your child is a little younger too!

Absolutely! All the games and activities apply to all children starting school, no matter where you are in the world. There may be the occasional reference to the UK schooling system, but the content applies, wherever you are!

Every time you play a game, your child will get better at the skill it focuses on, so there is no ‘end point’ to the pack. You can keep using it again and again. These games can be adapted for older children as well, so your child can keep playing them for years to come.

No! The beauty of this activity pack is that it requires no resources, not even a printer! You can take every single one of the activities and implement them straight away. All you need to do is choose one, read it, and then play it with your child.

Some of the activities are even easier than that. I’ve worked hard to include things that can be done on-the-go, or included in your day when you have a few minutes of free time, or even just a moment when you need to entertain your child.

You can open the download on your phone and just refer to it whenever you fancy doing something to prepare your child!

I currently have a more in-depth mini course ‘Ready for Reception’ that goes deeper into each area and offers several extras, including:

A mini-course that covers everything you need to know for when your child starts school, featuring:

  1. What is school like for your child?
  2. How can you make the transition easy?
  3. What does your child need to know?
  4. What else can you do to make sure they thrive?
  5. How can you support them in the first few weeks? (Including how to protect their mental health)

But wait, who am I?
How do I know this will help?

I’m Jen, a Primary School teacher, Dyslexia tutor and parent support coach. I’ve been a teacher for nearly a decade and have taught Nursery, Reception and KS1 (as well as a few other ages too!). I’ve helped hundreds of children settle in to school, and supported parents to make the transition as calm, easy and enjoyable as possible.

I know how nerve-wracking it can be to send your child to school for the first time, and I want to help as many parents as possible feel prepared and ready to do so, so that when your child waves goodbye to you and heads into class, you feel confident that they’re ready.

The activities in this pack are the ones I’ve given to so many parents over the years, to help their child prepare for school and settle in confidently. I look forward to helping you to do the same!
