If your child is moving up to Year 1 in September, this Masterclass will ensure you’re completely ready and know everything you need to to ensure your child starts school happy, excited and ready to learn. 

In this hour-long session (Monday 5th August @8pm BST), I’ll take you through exactly what’s different about Year 1, compared to Reception (it’s a surprising amount), as well as what you can be doing over the summer holidays to ensure your child doesn’t ‘backslide’ and loose what they’ve learned. We’ll also cover how you can support your child with the transition to Year 1, and what to do if your child uses the phrase ‘but we never get to PLAY anymore!’

We’ll talk about :

  • What will change now that your child is in Year 1 and how you can help them with the transition.
  • How the Year 1 curriculum is different and what that means for your little one.
  • Ways to support your child’s mental health as they start KS1.
  • What the Phonics Screen Assessment is and how you can help your child prepare for it. 
  • Simple activities you can do over the summer to ensure your child doesn’t forget what they’ve learned and can start Year 1 where they left off in Reception (or even better!)

During this live session, you’ll also have the chance to ask any questions you might come up with, and get almost instantaneous answers. There’ll also be time afterwards to ask questions about your child’s reading and get support specific to you.
