From Monday 11th November, I’m running a FREE, week-long challenge on building reading confidence. (Suitable for ages 3-7)
If you’d like the details, you can sign up for them here:
A week of information (in bite-sized chunks) about supporting your child’s reading, exactly what you need to know at the start of a new year.
Step-by-step guidance on how to help your child develop their reading skills to reach the next level.
Activities and strategies you can implement now to improve your child’s reading confidence.
Identify reading roadblocks and help your child get back on track fast, no matter their stage or level!

You know how important reading is to your child’s education. You want to help them have the best possible start, to make progress and be able to learn independently.
You want to know how to support your child at home in a way that builds their confidence as well as their skills.
That’s exactly what I’ll share with you in this week-long Challenge.
Learning to read should be fun, it should be exciting. And supporting our kids should be easy too!
In this week, I’ll not only show you how your kids learn to read (and explain why it’s so different from how we learned), but I’ll also give you a bank of ideas that you can use whenever you have a moment of ‘dead time’ such as walking to school or brushing their hair.
Whether your child is in mainstream education or you’re choosing to homeschool, what I share in this challenge is relevant. Learning to read expands well beyond the classroom and the support you give your children today will help them well into the future.
Join this free challenge to learn exactly how you can do this yourself.

How to engage your child with reading when they’re reluctant, so they keep learning and improving.
How to identify your child’s reading level and what books will work best for them.
The process of learning to read and how to help your child at each stage.
Common terms you might hear in school (or just in general) and what they mean.

This week is packed full of support, advice and strategies to help you with your child’s reading:
On Monday we’ll be looking at book bands. I’ll talk through what each one means and how you can know exactly what level your child is on, as well as what to do if a book is too hard/easy for them.
Tuesday, we’ll tackle what to do when your child is reluctant to read. I’ll give you loads of strategies and activities to make reading exciting again.
Wednesday’s the big one – We’ll cover all 6 steps to reading, what they mean and how you can support your child every step of the way, to help them become happy, confident readers.
We’re still not done! Thursday’s all about you. There’s a poll in the Facebook Group with ideas for other Bonus sessions. Vote for your favourite(s) and the one with the most votes is the one I’ll run! Not only that, but I’ll also be announcing the winner of our competition to win a free 1:1 session with me, focusing on your child’s reading, complete with specific games and activities for you to try at home.
I’ll also be around and available throughout the week to answer any questions or queries you may have and give you specific support for your child’s reading!

When a child learns to read, the whole world opens up to them. Not only do they have the ability to do necessary things, like read street names and bus timetables, but they can also explore any topic that interests them, learning so much more than they otherwise would. Reading gives children independence, and every child deserves to become a confident reader.
I’m Jen, a Primary School teacher, Phonics and Early Reading specialist, dyslexia tutor and parent support coach. I’ve helped over 300 parents to support their children with reading, from Nursery to Year 2.
In this week-long Challenge, I share activities and strategies that I use in my own classroom and with the students I work with that consistently produce results and (much more importantly) kids who are confident readers. I truly believe that every child deserves to be a confident reader and I want to help that become true. It would be lovely to work with you too!
